As for the eligibility, ideal candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Age: 17-26 years
  • Height: 5 feet 2 inches (minimum); must be proportionate to weight
  • Marital Status: Unmarried (please note that this is not mandatory for not all airlines)
  • Eyesight: English, Hindi, and other foreign languages.
  • Others: Must possess valid Indian passport, must be medically fit, no pending criminal proceedings/charges, drug test etc.

Benefits of working as an Air Hostess

The salaries are the most lucrative of them all which attracts candidates to the industry. As an air hostess, you can earn anywhere between INR 16,000-75,000 per month. Usually, for beginners, the salary is set between INR 16,000-20,000 per month. This can of course rise with promotion and experience. An Air India stewardess, which is a government job, can earn up to INR 75,000.

However, if you go international and work for some leading airlines across the world, you may earn INR 1-2 lakh per month. Apart from the salary, air hostesses also get additional allowances such as medical insurance, life insurance, pension benefits, free travel and accommodation, and discounts on airfare and travel.
